Yerba Buena Gardens Festival (YBGF) will present “Timing Is Synchronicity,” an inventive interdisciplinary performance by Embodiment Project (EP) that intertwines street dance battle culture and improvisation with live music and spoken word. This outdoor presentation on July 8, 2023 will be the culmination of the Get Free Festival, a weeklong hip hop dance festival rooted in the artistry of freestyling, experimental battling and community healing. Rather than focusing on competition, this dance battle performance will celebrate community building and storytelling through the history, present and future of house dance. “Timing Is Synchronicity” is artistically directed by EP Founder Nicole Klaymoon in collaboration with performing artists K’niin Aubrey, d. Sabela Grimes, Rama Mahesh Hall and Toyin Sogunro as well as vocalists Tiffany Austin and Valerie Troutt. This YBGF presentation will be admission-free, family-friendly, ADA-compliant, and open to the public.
