Grants Enhance Access to the Arts & Leverage Investment in Communities

NEFA core grants resulted in over $1 million in funds to local economies

(Boston, MA) The New England Foundation for the Arts has made grants totaling $309,221 to artists and nonprofit organizations that support culture in communities across New England. Grants support public presentations and engagement activities, and reach all six New England states. The $309,221 in grants leveraged a total investment of $1,071,726 in creative projects.  This amount is in addition to investment from NEFA’s other programs.

NEFA’s Expeditions and New England States Touring (NEST) programs made a total of 105 grants during the most recent fiscal year. Grant-making supports artists and cultural organizations to energize New England communities by increasing access to creative opportunities.

“These grants enhance life in New England by investing in cultural organizations and artists,” said NEFA executive director Cathy Edwards. “The impact of NEFA support can be felt long after a performance is over, as we enable artists to develop their work, support communities with creative engagement opportunities, and connect cultural organizations to regional resources.”

Expeditions supports artists to engage with multiple New England communities through tours. The New England States Touring (NEST) program provides support for performances and activities by New England artists in the New England states. Grants range from $400 to $10,000. Both the Expeditions and NEST programs are made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts and the six New England state arts agencies.
