NEFA Welcomes New Controller

The New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA) is pleased to announce that Joseph M. Sweeney has joined the organization in the role of Controller.

In this role, Joseph will lead the finance functions at NEFA. Working closely with NEFA’s chief operating officer, Joseph will lead the annual audit, have a key role in creating the annual budget, and ensure that NEFA’s commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility is realized through its financial and operational practices. Prior to joining NEFA, Joseph served as a consulting assistant controller at CliftonLarsonAllan (CLA), supporting an array of nonprofit clients in Massachusetts across all accounting functions. Joseph’s previous experience is with national and international health and human services nonprofits and nonprofit consulting organizations.

An amateur musician, Joe earned a Bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Originally from Dorchester, he currently resides in Jamaica Plain, MA.
