Program Coordinator Elizabeth Bouchard  shares the top five most frequently asked questions from National Theater Project Creation & Touring Applicants.

Q-1: Can I apply to the program as an individual or if my company is not a 501(c)(3)?
A: Yes! If you are not a 501(c)(3), you may apply through a fiscal agent  (see this post on Fiscal Sponsorship). When filling out the form, you would list the individual(s) or company name as the Applicant and the fiscal sponsor as the Payee.

Q-2: What is a producing/developmental partner?
A: A Producing/developmental partner is a collaborator who agrees to partner with an artist-led ensemble during the development phase to help get a work ready to tour; could be a commissioner of new work.

A producing/developmental partner relationship is one in which, during the development of a work, the partner may provide a variety of resources including, but not limited to: residency space, audience for work-in-progress showings, administrative guidance or support, marketplace advocacy, tour planning assistance, and the leveraging of additional funds for the project. It is understood that the need and level of assistance between developmental partners and artists varies from artist to artist, but NTP believes strongly in partnerships which can greatly benefit the development and distribution of devised, collaborative theater.

Q-3: I submitted my LOI. How will I know if I’ve been invited to submit a full application?
A: All applicants who submit an LOI (deadline March 21) will be notified by May 1 as to whether or not they are asked to submit a full application (due June 18).

Q: When will the grantees be announced?
A: The awarded projects will be announced in August.

Q: I’m having technical issues. Help!
A: If you are having technical issues with your application, please email Elizabeth Bouchard or call 617.951.0010 x516. We appreciate your patience as we’re getting to know our new online grant system.
