The Autorino Center for the Arts and Humanities at the University of Saint Joseph

Following up from an Expeditions touring grant in 2017, Amirah Sackett will return to the Hartford, CT area to perform and build on prior conversations and relationships that were built during a three-day visit. As an original dancer and choreographer, Muslim positive, b-girl, Amirah Sackett will re-engage with the University of Saint Joseph, the Hartford Public Library Hip Hip History Project, Hartford Seminary and Movement/Studio 860 in a variety of ways that will support the development of a new work which features hip-hip choreography, Rumi poetry, Muslim culture and incorporate local professional talent. During the week Amirah will lecture, choreograph, host dialogues and perform.
