The Great Friends Dance Festival has taken place in Newport every summer for the past seven years. It is a project through which national and international dance companies are invited to Newport to rehearse in the Island Moving Company's studios, stay in local homes, and perform at the festival in late July. This year Thomas/Ortiz Dance will be presented at the festival for the first time in addition to four other companies.
