Martha Redbone, with 8 actors/musicians, presents one public performance and one lec-dem of the dramatic musical, Bone Hill, at Macey Center, in Socorro, NM, on Fri., April 26. This interdisciplinary theater work is inspired by Redbone’s history in the Appalachian Mountains. An epic story of her return to Black Mountain and the coal mines of Harlan County, KY, spanning the lives and stories of four generations of women in a Cherokee family. Redbone revisits her childhood and the memories and tales of her ancestors—their connection to the land, the simplicity and sacredness of that connection, and the ruptures that threaten to extinguish it; an important, untold piece of American history.
