The New England Foundation for the Arts has opened registration for its 2019 Creative Communities Exchange (CCX 2019), to be held Montpelier, VT, June 6-7, 2019, with local host, Montpelier Alive.

CCX 2019 will gather New England leaders who are invested in the creative economy to network, share best practices, and devise long-range projects to spur development through the arts. The Exchange, a biennial event that rotates among different New England communities, serves as bridge between the creative sector and community development. Previous events have taken place in Providence, RI, North Adams, MA, Portland, ME, Keene, NH, and New London, CT.

“CCX 2019 is an opportunity for the creative sector to gather in Montpelier, VT, a capital city with a creative viewpoint,” said Cathy Edwards, Executive Director of the New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA). “Participants will be inspired by the projects across New England that champion the use of arts and creativity to foster more equitable, diverse, and inclusive communities.”

The Vermont Downtown Preservation Conference will take place on June 5, immediately prior to the Exchange. Concurrent to the Exchange is ArtsFest, a community celebration of the arts and creativity, resulting in multiple reasons to extend a stay in Montpelier.

Participants are urged to register before April 12 to receive a discounted registration fee of $100.00. Registration includes attendance at all workshops and presentations, a reception on Wednesday night with the Downtown Preservation Conference, breakfast and lunch on Thursday and Friday, and a Thursday evening reception to celebrate CreativeGround, New England’s online creative community. Friday includes the presentation of NEFA’s Creative Economy awards, which recognize exemplary organizations and projects. Information and registration at www.CCXNewEngland.org.

Travel support funding is available for participants and organizations, with priority given to first time participants and organizations with budgets below $250,000. The deadline to apply for travel support is March 22.

“We are thrilled to be selected to host the CCX in 2019 in Montpelier,” said Dan Groberg, Executive Director of Montpelier Alive. “Montpelier is truly emerging as the creative capital. Hosting CCX reflects the tremendous creative energy in our City that lends innovation and vitality to Montpelier.”

All activities will take place in downtown Montpelier, including the Capitol Plaza, City Hall Auditorium, Historical Society Museum, the Unitarian Church and the Kellogg-Hubbard Library.

CCX 2019 is made possible with funding from the National Life and with additional support Vermont Mutual. Media sponsors include Art New England, the Times Argus, and Vermont Public Radio. Ongoing support for NEFA’s creative economy work comes from the National Endowment for the Arts and New England’s six state arts agencies.
