Crossing Traditions are Breaking & Jazz pop-up sessions that venture out of the theater and into the community. Jazz and Breaking have street elements that connect history, culture & improvisation - what is current day hip hop/dance culture if not another extension of Jazz? In these sessions, Raphael invites local hip hop dancers and jazz musicians to come together for gatherings out of the traditional indoor studio/stage to improvise outdoors or in unexpected locations. These gatherings are a celebration of community by way of creating a unique shared experience, bridging generational gaps and sharing history and energy that hundreds of years of tradition and generations have evolved from.
