FirstWorks, Portland Ovations, College of the Holy Cross, and Wesleyan University are partnering to open their 2019-20 seasons with dramatic powerhouse Taylor Mac. A combination of Bedazzled shaman, searing social critic and radical Elizabethan fool, Mac is one of the world’s leading theater artists. FirstWorks and partners will present an abridged version of Mac’s epic 24-Decade History of Popular Music, which seeks to tell the story of communities built as a result of being torn apart. Situating this work in the local history and communities of New England, Mac will start a year of performing arts off with a loud, inclusive, colorful BANG!
