Part of FirstWorks's mission is to present artists as culturally diverse as the Providence local community so that adult and youth audiences see representations of themselves and their cultures on performing arts stages and in their classrooms year-round. Samite’s music, played on East African instruments including the litungu lyre, marimba, and finger piano, will bring the sounds of Uganda and Kenya to PVDFest audiences and students.

To engage Rhode Islanders with Samite’s music and stories, a series of community events will be offered in addition to his public performance on Sunday, June 9th, at the 2019 PVDFest in downtown Providence.
