To kick-off Portland Ovations' 88th season, Taylor Mac will perform in "24-Decade History of Popular Music", abridged to fit the 1820-2020 span of Maine's statehood. Through a range of activities - the incorporation of Maine performing artists into the performance; a residency with Mac's inimitable costume designer Machine Dazzle; collaboration with community partners to uncover and celebrate Maine's queer history; and the embracing of the curious and creative community through a community parade - Portland Ovations will increase capacity for engagement, honoring marginalized communities and stories, and interweave Maine voices with a nationally-recognized artist.
