The Dance Theatre of Harlem will return to the Moss Arts Center for a second engagement (the first was in our inaugural season in spring 2014) to perform a program of mixed repertoire that includes a new work by choreographer Claudia Schreier featuring music composed by Jessie Montgomery. This work was commissioned to commemorate historic events of 1619 particular to the Commonwealth of Virginia - the first arrival of both African slaves, and the arrival of European women. In addition to a public performance, the company will present a school-day matinee for regional K-12 students.
