Dastak is a full-length meditation on footwork, migrations, and home. Sparked by the current crisis around immigration at the U.S.-Mexico border, the painful separation of families during Indian partition in 1947, and during the 150-mile forced march of Dakota people in 1862, the work will premiere in September 2020 as part of the Women of Substance series at The O'Shaughnessy in St. Paul. Dastak will be created by choreographer Ananya Chatterjea, the dancers of Ananya Dance Theatre, and their team of collaborators.
