SPACE

SPACE is excited to commission Lailye Weidman's new solo growing our of her last work, Showman, which traces and activates past encounters with hardcore punk, glam rock, and lyrical competition dance. Akin to Showman this new piece will also works from the imprinted histories of other's performances on the body. The currently untitled solo traces and activates more subtle aspects of gendered performances from Lailye's immediate family, ancestry, and the artist's own work history. A work in progress of the piece was shown in December, and SPACE will work to develop this with her for a June performance performed alongside peer and former Boston-resident Hana van der Kolk.
