A grant from the New England Arts Resilience fund will help GrubStreet sustain remote creative writing classes and events for teens and adults in Boston during the COVID-19 pandemic and plan for the future as our organization moves into our new center on the Boston waterfront. With NEAR funding, GrubStreet can rehire essential program positions, upgrade technology to transition programs to our new center, and engage a diversity, equity, and inclusion consultant to help our board and staff codify antibias practices. With these supports, GrubStreet can keep 126 teaching artists employed and increase free programming for 1,500 writers in low-income communities and neighborhoods of color.
