Our primary goals are to imagine an Afro-diasporic dance space that is designed in contrast to conventional studios and to create an accessible, traveling dance studio for Black communities. Dance studios are privatized, westernized practice space for dancers, and yet there is comfort in building our repertory in a space where we can invite others to witness or co-create our movement vocabulary. We intend to explore the kind of environment dancers need to cultivate our practice and how to make dance spaces more accessible in BIPOC communities.
