The tree dance project connects curiosity of how trees sustain our world with telling their history that includes the native people who came before immigrant settlers. There is an imperative to move aerial dance out of doors in order to perform safely and breach our isolation in a time when divisiveness and separation are daily components of life. Serenity is collaborating with native American singer/songwriter Bryan Blanchette and local foresters to develop a dance in trees that celebrates the past and future of the places we inhabit. The grant will support arborist training to protect the trees as well as the safety of the dancers as the work tours to host locations with Circus in Place.
