BRKFST Dance Company will partner with the Minnesota Orchestra to create an original dance work, “Opus 60/40”: the rigorous, innovative, response of Minneapolis breaking choreographers to systemic oppression, social isolation, and violent upheavals experienced in 2020. This two part, evening length performance, set to Beethoven’s “Grosse Fuge Op.133” and a contemporary piece - composed for this groundbreaking work by Black, transdisciplinary composer Yaz Lancaster - will tour to three prominent symphonies. This work, paired with student workshops and community engagement while on tour, reflect this company’s commitment to using art as a means of inciting humane society.
