In collaboration with the Flynn (Burlington VT) and FirstWorks (Providence RI), Portland Ovations will share an incredible coming together of two beloved global and roots music groups: Amadou & Mariam and the Blind Boys of Alabama (BBA). While they may appear worlds apart, the music of Amadou & Mariam and BBA share something that is undeniable: deeply felt music of the soul that transcends cultures, nations and musical styles. The project will include ADA organizational development; a pre-concert lect-dem; a community reception with partners Indigo Arts Alliance, the Greater Portland Immigrant Welcome Center and the IRIS Network; a virtual "Seeking Resonance" convo; and an open rehearsal.
