Community MusicWorks seeks support to engage Hip Hop violinist Big Lux in a year-long community-based residency culminating in a June 2022 public performance in Providence’s Dexter Park, adjacent to the Cranston Street Armory in the West End, for a projected audience of 200. Big Lux will perform a work that CMW is commissioning him to write and develop through the year-long residency. Big Lux will work directly with CMW’s predominantly Black and Latinx students aged 7-18, teaching elective classes and workshops, offering individual lessons, working with a teen leadership group, and rehearsing with small groups of student performers to develop his commissioned work.
