I intend to get my certification as Healing Centered Engagement Practitioner. Healing Centered Engagement Certification is an asset-based and culturally-rooted approach to healing and well-being for young people of color and their adult allies. The term was coined by Dr. Shawn Ginwright in 2018 and is based on more than 30 years of research and practice with young people, schools, probation departments, and social workers. This 20-25 hour training program would provide me with the additional soft skills needed to work with youth and adults and arts educator/consultant and facilitator to appropriately engage with community members that fall into black and brown demographics and beyond.
