Come the end of 2022, I am pursuing an opportunity to go abroad and experience more street arts & muralism beyond what I've learned in my hometown's circle, regional communities, & neighbors, to expand my understanding of spatial & material awareness. The destination? Residencia Gorila with Tulum Art Club, in Tulum, Mexico for a month. It provides the time, space, conversations, and resources to not only learn about Mayan and indigenous practices where a portion of my own culture is rooted from, but more importantly, a contemporary lens on public art in an intentional and sustainable field to speak with and for communities. Simultaneously learning the base of this residency, is the opportunity to meet other international public artists to continue cross-cultural exploration, storytelling, and making, and fuel my personal passions in learning about identities and euphoric sensations around our world. It leads to the production of a social project, with local engagement.
