The Yard

The Yard is working with Urban Bush Women (UBW) to create a site-specific performance of the company’s new work, “Haint Blu,” on Martha’s Vineyard. Over the course of the project period, we will connect UBW with members of the African American and Indigenous communities on Martha’s Vineyard with the goal of creating relationships, building connections, and deepening the artists’ understanding of the histories and experiences of these communities on the island. The company will have a two week creation residency in summer 2022, followed by a winter site visit in 2023 and a culminating two-week residency with a week of performances in 2023. The performances will take place in several locations around the island.
