Strand Theatre

The Strand Theatre will present dance-theater company Danza Orgánica’s new work, "âs nupumukâunean (we still dance),” for one school-time matinee and one public performance as part of our Strand Family Series in May 2023. The engagement will also include dance workshops at the Studio Red dance school and take-home educational guides for attending students and families.

“âs nupumukâunean (We Still Dance)” is a multimedia theatrical composition created in collaboration between Danza Orgánica and members of the Aquinnah Wampanoag tribe. Adhering to Indigenous storytelling, dance, song, and installation- “âs nupumukâunean” explores what it means to be Native today by highlighting traditional and contemporary stories of the Aquinnah Wampanoag People.
