Windhover Performing Arts Center

New York-based Cornfield Dance performs the New England premiere of The Wasp in the Window and Other Dances at Windhover, August 15-21, 2022. Eight artists present two ticketed performances on Windhover’s outdoor stage in addition to free, site-responsive performances in downtown Rockport, a free public creative movement class, and technique classes for adults and youth.

The program includes The Wasp in the Window, a meditation on the dark and the light sides of life that coexist with surprising regularity inspired by Cornfield's 2021 Windhover residency. Additional dances include Small Stages, lively dances performed on 6’x6’ stage areas in multiple locations, and the pandemic-inspired Spaced Out, performed on and around folding red chairs. All music is performed live by composer Andreas Brade.

Cornfield Dance makes dance accessible to communities by presenting work in non-traditional public spaces, respectfully and with sensitivity to the needs of the site and the audience.
