OnStage at Connecticut College will present a concert with the spectacular and colorful three-time Grammy Award winning Soweto Gospel Choir. The program will be "HOPE – It’s Been A Long Time Coming," which will celebrate American and South African artists associated with the struggles for civil rights and social justice throughout their countries’ complex histories. The concert will include South African freedom songs as well as the music of Aretha Franklin, Harry Belafonte, Mahlia Jackson and others combined with traditional African gospel music and spirituals. The artists are being presented in collaboration with Connecticut College’s Office of Equity and Inclusion, Walter Commons for Global Study and Engagement, Holleran Center for Community Action, Office of the Dean of the College and Department of Music.
