Lucky Plush Productions will be in residence at The Yard June 9-June 20, 2022. The National Theater Project Presentation Grant will support the first six days of this engagement (June 8-June 13) during which time eight members of the company will perform Rink Life. This show is a dynamic, dance-theater performance that enlivens 1970s roller skating rink culture and features a live-sung soundtrack. The work builds upon Cadence, a work created by founder and artistic director Julia Rhoads for Hubbard Street Dance Chicago in 2017. While in residence, the company will perform Rink Life twice for general audiences. The balance of Lucky Plush Production’s time at The Yard will be a creation residency, funded through other sources and providing time for the company to be together, sharing and collaborating on work that has been evolving in isolation during the pandemic. An additional public engagement is anticipated late in the residency for an open rehearsal of this new work.
