Jacob’s Pillow will present Indigenous Enterprise at the 90th Anniversary Festival during a one-night engagement on the outdoor Henry J. Leir stage on August 4, 2022. A Native American and Canadian collective, Indigenous Enterprise uses dance and colorful regalia to honor the legacies of their elders. Their mission centers around preservation through teaching, performance of traditional dance and song, and the progressive thought that a culture changes with its people. Indigenous Enterprise was founded to combat misrepresentation, stereotypes, and the disregard of actual Native stories, and has quickly gained recognition for their cultural narrative. Indigenous Enterprise made its Pillow debut in 2019 as part of “The Land on Which We Dance”, and will return to the Pillow this summer with “Indigenous Liberation”, featuring songs, stories, and dances from Turtle Island - the folkloric term for North America.
