The Biddeford Movement Map is a collection of oral history movement workshops, and dance vignettes presented as both live site-specific performances and digitally as a series of 3-5 minute dance films on biddefordmovementmap.com. Through the examination of Biddeford's history using the stories of individuals as well as the study of the physical development of the town via the built landscapes, this work will ask viewers to pause and consider the history and current occupation of downtown through the lenses of labor, community joy, and public space. By engaging with public history through movement this work seeks to create a deeply personal experience of the past, and thoughtful interrogation of the present.
