(Boston, MA) The New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA) announced that Susan Evans McClure has joined NEFA’s board of directors. McClure was recently appointed executive director of the Vermont Arts Council, one of NEFA’s state arts agency partners.
Prior to this role at the VAC, McClure served as executive director of the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum in Vergennes since 2019. She also serves as the chair of the Board of Directors at the Addison County Economic Development Corporation, as a trustee for the Carpenter-Carse Library in Hinesburg and is a graduate of the Snelling Center for Government’s Vermont Leadership Institute.
Previously, McClure served as executive director of VSA Vermont (now Inclusive Arts Vermont), which focuses on arts accessibility for all, and was director of programs and audience development at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History. She holds an undergraduate degree in drama & theater and a master’s degree in arts education. Susan has also worked in the education departments of the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts and Shelburne Museum and in marketing at Magic Hat Brewing Company.
“I look forward to working with NEFA and our partners at the other New England state arts agencies,” said McClure. “Strong partnerships are essential efforts to ensure everyone has access to the arts and creativity in their community.”
The New England Foundation for the Arts invests in artists and communities and fosters equitable access to the arts, enriching the cultural landscape in New England and the nation. NEFA accomplishes this by granting funds to artists and cultural organizations; connecting them to each other and their audiences; and analyzing their economic contributions. NEFA serves as a regional partner for the National Endowment for the Arts, New England’s state arts agencies, and private foundations. Learn more at www.nefa.org.
