Stone Valley Arts (at Fox Hill)

Stone Valley Arts is currently focused on establishing more enriched outreach programs and collaborative partnerships within our region. Karen Montanaro’s multi-event residency is one that will reach five area elementary schools, our local senior center, theater company, and SVA’s audiences.

Montanaro is a world-renowned dancer, mime artist, award-winning choreographer, and the innovator of "mimedance" (the fusion of two classical art forms). As an artist, she builds on the focus of storytelling by engaging in nonverbal means via the vocabulary of mime, dance, and improvisation, where participants experience and express moods, feelings, and states-of-mind in exciting new ways.

SVA & the Poultney region have a strong heritage in storytelling via the written and spoken word. Ms. Montanaro’s nonverbal approaches will add another dimension to the craft. This can serve to ignite new aspects of the imagination & inspire innovative & meaningful ways of communicating with one another
