Essex Art Center

Essex Art Center introduces public art programs for Lawrence teens led by experienced teaching artists. In 2024, students will explore print, the publication process, and its distribution as a medium for public art. In summer 2025, students will create miniature mosaics in sidewalks and parks in Lawrence, filling missing or crumbling sections with colorful arrays of glass tiles. The summer programs foster creativity and community engagement, while also offering participant stipends to build a sense of ownership, cultivate artistic expression, and inspire the next generation of artists and cultural producers.
