Boston Dance Theater’s Masterworks is a diverse range of repertory choreographed by three of the most extraordinary choreographers of the 21st century : Itzik Galili (the Netherlands, Israel), Marco Goecke (Germany), and Allesandro Sousa Pereira (Brazil, Denmark). A few threads run throughout all 5 pieces:
The whole is greater than the sum of its parts, and, the community could not exist without each unique, diverse voice within it
Flight and flocking of birds as a metaphor for agility and strength of unity
Grief, loss, and the longing of another’s touch
Juxtaposition of play and loss, the duality of human experience
The HCA will also offer a two hour masterclass for teen dancers in our dance program as well as programs from surrounding communities. The opportunity for young dancers to work with professional dancers will provide an element of mentorship and give HCA’s dancers exposure to what a dance career truly looks like. We will also have a talk back after each performance.
