After a low-tech pilot iteration in fall of 2023, we hope to bring back Ricky Katowicz's full family show to Portland with puppets, games, stories and songs, focusing on social-emotional themes and designed for kids under 10. One or two weekend performances will take place, with one happening for a private group or a site visit to a collaborator like the Portland Housing Authority Study Centers. The Rainbow Beard Show, from Providence artist Ricky Katowicz, features performance, music, interactive activities, videos, and special guests using exciting visuals and costumes and an absurdist comic lens. Written with kids ages 4-8 and their grownups in mind and focused on social developmental themes, the show investigates our collective human experience.

It’s a family show that is unshowy about its values, and deploys them quietly in the service of wholesome family entertainment. It’s an imaginative world that seems accessible to children of all backgrounds and family structures.
