Portland Ovations

Portland Ovations – in partnership with The Fine Arts Center at UMASS/Amherst, MA and Global Live Arts in Boston, MA – is thrilled to present Grammy-winning international music icon Angelique Kidjo on November 13, 2024 at the State Theatre. Kidjo is renowned not only for her border-crossing music, but also activism and humanitarian efforts that extend far beyond the concert stage. As part of the collaboration, the three partner sites are engaging American radio journalist Marco Werman to conduct an interview that will be broadcast internationally. In Portland, Ovations will also hold a meet-the-artist event hosted by our board chair Sayad Moudachirou and make personal invitations to our friends and their constituencies at the Greater Portland Immigrant Welcome Cetner, Maine Jewish Museum, Portland Adult Education, and Indigo Arts Alliance and expand ASL interpretation for this concert. To our knowledge, this is the first time Kidjo will appear in Maine.
