The Waldo Theatre

The Sun Ra Arkestra has been influential across music, art, and culture for decades. We are eager to provide our rural, Midcoast Maine community with the rare opportunity to hear the group that pioneered the Afro-futurism artistic movement that inspired bands such as Earth, Wind, and Fire. Our audience is older, reflecting the demographics of our region, and they are hugely supportive of performers who have also been orbiting the sun for a while. We're also excited about introducing a new generation of musicians to this creative, multi-disciplinary, foundational band by partnering with the Midcoast Music Academy to incorporate the set-up and sound check process into their curriculum.
