The Dance Hall

The Soggy Po Boys bring their Honoring a Tradition: Kid Ory show to The Dance Hall in Kittery, ME. The Honoring a Tradition series, offered by the seven-piece band, is specifically designed to honor the unique New Orleans musical traditions and the individuals- often progenitors- who contributed to each. The Kid Ory installment of the series looks at the life and music of New Orleans trombonist Edward “Kid” Ory and integrates biographical story-telling complete with A/V elements, historical context, and demonstration throughout the performance. This lecture/demonstration/performance will also be brought into York Public Schools for teaching artists to work with band and jazz band students.
