Links Hall will host Leslie Parker Dance Project in Chicago to lead an open workshop, foster community connections, and plan future engagements. In order to introduce Parker’s work, Divination Tools: imagine home (DT), to the Chicago dance community, she will lead a workshop at Links’ Open House on Sunday, September 15, 2024 which is free and open to the public. On the days leading up to Open House, Parker will incubate & rehearse at Links Hall; and meet with local artists and community members to engage them about Black dance improvisation and the functionality it serves in DT, community building, and future dance works. Local artists and partners include Cristal Sabbagh & Elastic Arts. Parker & Links Hall will commence her time in Chicago with planning meetings to schedule and strategize towards future installments and performances of DT, a new solo called LoverRoot, and a Chicago run of the Black Dance Improvisation Festival which originated in Parker’s own Twin Cities, Minnesota.
