Communications Contractor for CreativeGround – September 2024 to May 2025

NEFA is seeking a part-time tactical communications expert to assist with digital marketing and communications for CreativeGround September 2024-May 2025. CreativeGround is NEFA’s primary online tool for network and knowledge building across the New England creative economy. It is the dynamic regional directory that celebrates the vital work of artists, creatives, culture bearers, creative organizations and businesses; and is the place for all to gain insight into New England’s vibrant creative ecosystem.  

This person will refine and implement the marketing/communications plan for this unique regional visibility and connection platform. CreativeGround has a broad array of users and audiences, and we need to both expand awareness of the site and deepen engagement with community leaders as strategically and efficiently as possible.

Schedule and Compensation

Ideal candidates will be able to work approximately 15 hours per week, with some flexibility to adjust based on project timelines but not to exceed 20. Schedule will be mutually agreed upon, with a preference for most work occurring during NEFA business hours, Monday-Friday 9:00AM to 5:00PM ET, to allow for regular (virtual) meetings with internal partners. Work will be completed fully remote.

Compensation: $35-$45/hour

Project Deliverables

The contractor will complete the following projects in consultation with the Senior Program Director, Creative Economy, and in close coordination with the Program Manager, Creative Economy

  1. Refine communications strategies and develop campaigns for implementation
  2. Develop social media strategies and messaging for posting on all CreativeGround platforms, including Instagram, LinkedIn
  3. Design digital and print infographics and marketing materials 
  4. Draft, Design and send monthly eblasts in Mailchimp
  5. Write and design blogs for the CreativeGround site
  6. Gather news items and CreativeGround profiles for promotional materials
  7. Create a library of design templates for graphics for social media, print, and e-promotional materials
  8. Implement special communications campaigns, including annual mailings and eblasts, and contact with specific audience segments
  9. Track and document progress toward established communications metrics, E.g social media, email marketing, and site traffic stats
  10. Use and update documentation of communications plans and procedures
  11. Support program staff with preparation for and follow up from meetings and events, as needed
  12. Other marketing and promotional tasks as needed

Experience/Skills 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, HTML, social media platforms, and Mailchimp (or similar email system). Familiarity with authoring content in Drupal a plus.
  • Skilled in graphic design/data visualization
  • Knowledge of design programs, such as Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Adobe Pro
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Comfortable writing in a variety of personal and brand voices; familiar with adhering to and maintaining brand standards 
  • Experience with best practices in website and materials accessibility
  • Excellent organizational skills, including strong attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, and problem-solve
  • Comfortable working with project management tools such as Asana, Trello, or similar
  • Experience gathering data from Google Analytics
  • Familiarity with New England’s diverse creative communities

Preferred

  • Experience working directly with New England artists, arts service organizations, creative businesses or other arts professionals a significant plus 
  • Experience with marketing an online platform or product
  • Interest or past experience working with creative economy research or creative community-building initiatives
  • Experience working with contacts management system such as Salesforce
