A movement to deepen our understanding of our relationship to the earth and each other through the lens of the Earth. Envisioned first to explore the Black, African and Afro Caribbean relationship/ relatedness to Cotton as an ancestor and holder of knowledge and healing from peoples of the diaspora, this movement intentionally approaches the earth with reverence and inquiry as to new ways and possibilities of connecting with the world around and within us.
The course, black/water: Worlding, Wilding, and Wandering as EcoWomanist Praxis, offers an experiential exploration of environmentally-conscious, performance devising and sacred site activation. The immersion builds on Golden's current field work, ritual art practice, and cultural organizing efforts. Participants will explore a range of topics including theatrical ceremony, womanist spirituality, ritual poetics, and collective approaches to climate reparations.
