LOHH are part of the 2024/25 Rankin Scholar-in-Residence and Mandell Presents series. Michele will deliver the Rankin Keynote & Fall Dance Lecture at the Mandell Theater. This free, public lecture series by guest artists and experts is meant to invigorate the field via topics of current relevance that resonate with Drexel dance students, ensemble members, and related health professions.
Michele and select members of LOHH will engage in classroom visits including History of Hip Hop (MUSC-337), graduate Arts Administration Overview of the Arts (AADM-505), on the role of culture in communities, Community Engaged Movement Touring Ensemble Class (DANC-131), meeting with students developing pieces for West Philly elementary schools. Finally, they will teach a community class for senior citizens at Dornsife Center for Neighborhood Partnerships.
The residency culminates with an 11-member company of LOHH performing the Philadelphia premiere of Black Dancing Bodies: Speak My Mind.
