Dana Alsamsam

Directed by Dana Alsamsam, Nozama Dance Collective seeks support to create a new work DYSTOPIC. The inspiration for this contemporary dance piece arises from the socio-political climate in America, which in its darkest days feels nearly apocalyptic – illness spreading, successful attacks on reproductive care, corruption running rampant, the world going numb to the death of thousands. DYSTOPIC takes on and dramatizes this feeling of rising up against injustice in a post-apocalyptic landscape where the reality of some is incredibly dissonant from the rich and privileged few who ignore the darkness beneath them. Through edgy, intense movement set to a dark, electronic score this work is sure to leave audiences thrilled and thoughtful. A work in progress was premiered at Nozama Dance Collective's show in July 2024 and will be brought into full fruition over the next year. We are seeking support for costuming, music licensing, video documentation, and to pay the dance artists involved.
