The DC is delighted to engage Nejla Yatkin and to bring her work "Ouroboros" to our Julie Ince Thompson Theatre. Through the National Performance Network, we are co-commissioners of the piece and have been in dialogue with Nejla and the other partners for over a year.
The work will be presented over the weekend of March 21- 23, 2025 in our DC Presents Series. The spring offerings for this series include three women choreographers whose work celebrates past, present and future in our post-COVID world. Nejla’s contribution to this is a salve to the state of collective PTSD that we are feeling as a society in the form of post-modern cabaret style performance of dance, music, song, audience engagement-and dessert! In March, the residency will include 2 performances, an audience/artist dialogue and a process oriented master class. While a drumming circle was planned, since the death of the artist, we will arrange an alternative gathering featuring music and musicians to celebrate him.
