The Hulbert Center for Southwest Studies at Colorado College (CC) will present Choreographer Yvonne Montoya’s performance, “Stories from Home,” on Sept. 27, 2025. Prior to this public performance, Montoya and a Con Safos dancer will lead three youth dance workshops in the neighboring city Pueblo, CO, Sept. 22-24. Montoya, along with CC students, will visit an elder dance community Sept. 24 in Colorado Springs to introduce "Stories from Home" and to conduct oral history interviews with elders. Dancers from the youth workshop will perform their choreographed works during the CC “Stories from Home” performance. Oral histories from the elder dance community will be played during the performance intermission. The public performance and workshops will be offered at no cost to participants to ensure the production/workshops are accessible to all interested. To reach a broader audience, Montoya will also participate in a SWS podcast series focused on sense of place and “Stories from Home.”
