We will present 2 performances of Jenna Riegel’s Varvara during the 2026 Bates Dance Festival. This piece is based on the life of Russian Constructivist Varvara Stepanova and uses that examination to dive into themes of artistic purpose, the challenge of significant life changes, and the process of making/re-making both in art and life. During her time on campus, Jenna will also teach and engage in post-show talks and other context events around the work.
