On Friday, May 9, Mechanics' Hall (Portland, ME) will host Puerto Rican cuatrista, singer, educator, and Emmy-nominated composer Fabiola Méndez for a concert in their historic ballroom, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Puerto Rican folk music. The following morning, a free, all-ages jam session will be held in the building's library. Open to participants of all ages and skill levels, with some percussion instruments provided, the session will be an interactive, welcoming environment in which to explore Puerto Rican rhythms and melodies, led by Fabiola and her band. This project will foster creativity, connection, and cultural exchange, ensuring Mechanics' Hall continues to be a dynamic space for artistic exploration, community engagement, and joy.
