Denali Arts Council

Denali Arts Council will present "Constant State of Otherness" by Unit Souzou, an innovative taiko drumming ensemble known for blending traditional Japanese folk performance with contemporary storytelling. This production explores themes of alienation, identity, and belonging through a dynamic fusion of drumming, folk dance, song, and personal narratives.
Unit Souzou’s visit will include both a public performance and an interactive workshop. The performance, scheduled for March 22nd, will take audiences on journey that reflects on the universal experiences of isolation and connection. The following morning, the workshop will provide community members of all ages with the opportunity to engage directly with the artists, explore the cultural significance of taiko drumming, and experience the physical and communal aspects of the art form. Through this project, we aim to bring a unique and and deeply resonant artistic experience to the Northern Susitna Valley.
