Dorrance Dance, founded by Chapel Hill-native Michelle Dorrance, will bring _x001C_The Blues Project,_x001D_ the company's newest work, to Carolina Performing Arts this September. Co-choreographed by Dorrance, Derick K. Grant, and Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards (in collaboration with the ensemble), the piece features a cast of nine dancers and five musicians. The approximately hour-long program is a celebration of tap dance and blues music, two uniquely American art forms, and their rich, intertwining histories.
