Kyle Abraham is developing an evening-length presentation constructed of three companion pieces, spawned from a singular idea: a celebration of 150 years after the Emancipation Proclamation and 20 years after the abolishment of Apartheid in South Africa. The themes inherent in these racial-historical milestones are jumping-off points for collaborations between Abraham, visual artist Glenn Ligon, and musicians, resulting in three distinct programs that may be mounted together and separately.
